Teacher Testimonials

“Our 5th grade classes have attended Louisville Water's education program for the past two years. We are very impressed with the program and staff. The staff is very knowledgeable about the history of the water plant. We enjoyed everything about the program and our students came back to school telling everyone the facts they had learned. We plan on making this annual field trip for 5th graders.  Colleen Craft, Teacher-Meredith Dunn School

”Louisville Water Company's educators are so knowledgeable and enthusiastic about teaching the kids.  They come so prepared and the content not only aligns with our Science Standards, but it also helps our kids learn about our community.  We can't wait for them to come back next year!” Ellen Glazier, Teacher-Jefferson County Public Schools

“The educational opportunities that the Louisville Water Company provides are the perfect complement to the curriculum in the STEM LAB that I teach in at Tully Elementary. The Fall semester wouldn’t be the same without a visit to the annual “Adventures in Water Festival” where my 3rd, 4th and 5th grade students have participated in a multitude of hands-on activities that are engaging, standards-based, and make connections in Science, Social Studies, Technology, Engineering, Art, Math and Literacy. We also have a standing “date” with Barbara, a LWC staff member, who visits Tully every October for a lesson on Erosion and how our River water is harnessed and cleaned before it arrives to our tap! If you haven’t experienced the educational benefits of the LWC, it’s never too late!”-Laura Keeling, Teacher-Jefferson County Public Schools

“As the Practical Living Specialist for Jefferson County Public Schools, I have collaborated closely for over a decade with the Louisville Water Company’s education programs in JCPS.  LWC’s high quality personnel and standards-based programs continually meet the educational needs of our teachers and their students.  For their continual service, generosity, leadership, and responsive, I award a ‘gold star’ to the LWC education program for being such a great community partner.”-Donna Benton

“Portland Elementary has participated in Louisville Water Company’s education program as in-class lessons, field experiences at Blackacre Nature Preserve and Adventures in Water program. Activities have been exciting we as well as educational for students. Our experiences have been very positive and support what we are doing in the classroom. We feel very fortunate to have the Louisville Water Co as academic enhancement to our environmental program.”-Brenda Stokes, Teacher-Jefferson County Public Schools

“At Saint Andrew Academy, I have worked with the Louisville Water company for many years. Each lesson taught by the Louisville Water company reinforces what I am teaching in my Science Classes. Each lesson taught is cross curriculum, since Social Studies, Science, Math, Physical Education, Art, and Reading are included. Students are very excited when the educators from the Louisville Water Company come to Saint Andrew Academy.”-Catherine Wright, Teacher-St. Andrew Academy
